Tipperary, Ireland – August 15, 2024: Trifol Resources Limited has entered into a supply agreement with Shell Chemicals Europe B.V. to supply pyrolysis oil derived from waste plastic that can be further processed into plastics.
Innovative Production: The plant commenced full-scale production in June, using a patented pyrolysis process to transform waste plastic into chemical feedstock, light fuel, diesel, and wax. These high-quality products have attracted significant interest from global players in the chemical, energy, and wax industries.
Supply Agreement: Mr. Pat Alley, Chairman of Trifol Resources, stated: "This is a first major project for TRIFOL in Europe, producing sustainable fuel and circular chemical feedstock from waste plastic. We are delighted that our first customer is Shell Chemicals Europe B.V., a subsidiary of Shell plc, a global company committed to providing low-carbon and circular solutions."
Technology and Environmental Impact: Dr Ruben Rodriguez, CEO of Trifol Resources, stated: "Our process produces fuels, circular chemical feedstock, and wax chemicals with substantially lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to conventional fossil fuel refinery processes. It removes harmful waste plastic from the environment. It supports the circular economy by promoting recycling and the conversion of plastic waste into valuable fuels and circular chemical products, including plastics."
Future Plans: This partnership aligns with the EU's strategy to eliminate plastic waste, promote recycling, reduce landfill dependence, and convert waste into valuable products. Trifol is planning to expand production capacity and is already discussing entering other markets within the European Union.
