The pressing need for innovative solutions to plastic waste has never been more apparent. The Plastic2WaxLife project, led by Trifol, is stepping up to this challenge with a cutting-edge approach that transforms waste plastics into renewable, high-value wax.
Project Overview
Plastic2WaxLife is designed to showcase and expand a novel process for converting plastic waste into wax. This proprietary chemical recycling method operates without a catalyst, offering a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional techniques.
Achievements and Future Plans
Having proven its concept at a pilot scale since 2016, Trifol has moved towards commercial-scale operations. Production started at Portlaoise and has since transitioned to a new site in Lanespark, Littleton, Co. Tipperary. Plans are in place to recommission and significantly upscale the facility by 2025, aiming for substantial annual output.
